Welcome to Roses N Things Caravan Park, thank you for choosing us when staying in Barcaldine.

Some information below will ensure you have a great stay with us……

 

Eating Options - bookings essential (on arrival or at time of booking)

Afternoon Tea - Offered in the Tea Garden on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s 230-330. We offer drinks and snacks including coffee, tea, scones and daily specials. As a special treat we offer High Tea - Indulge in petite sweet treats and savoury treats alongside your choice of coffee, tea’s and our refreshing fruit spritzers $39 per person.

Dinner - in the Tea Garden is offered on Saturday’s. Sit in the beautifully lit garden and enjoy dinner menu. DInner begins at 6pm. Menu

‘Delivery to your door’ - we provide dinner delivered to your caravan on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s. Dinner delivery begins at 6pm. Menu

Information about staying……….

  • Please be aware at night Kangaroos do come into the park to eat our green grass – please do not approach or feed them

  • Frogs do like the amenities block, beware!

  • A free BBQ is available for your use in the Gazebo, cleaning equipment provided. Please clean after use

  • If you find the BBQ runs out of gas we do have a spare gas bottle just ring Jason on 0413037948 and a replacement will be provided

  • There is a communal Fire Pit area located in front of the Gazebo, wood, fire starters and lighter provided.

  • Laundry is available for use – please remember to turn the washing machine on before you insert your coins

  • There is a little book exchange in the laundry – give a book, get a book

  • Barcaldine water is untreated Artesian basin water

  • Some tourist information about the area is available in the Laundry

  • To help keep our grass green please do not pour hot liquids/oils on our lawn

  • Please ensure sullage hoses are inserted into waste pipes provided near water taps

  • The nearest waste dump point can be found at the Showgrounds

  • The amenities are cleaned between 10 am and 11am each day

  • Please no tree to tree clothes lines, we have 2 clothes lines beside the amenities block

  • We are pet friendly - if you could please clean up after your pet and have them on a lead when outside your van at all times.

  • Bins can be found in the BBQ area. A recycle bin with a yellow lid has been provided. ONLY cans and stubbies with the 10c recycle symbol can be recycled in our area due to recycling restrictions.

  • Check out is 10am.

A Beautiful Mother’s Day

Roses N Things Barcaldine held Mother’s Day High Tea 12th May 2019. It was perfect weather and delicious delights were enjoyed by all. This was a planned event to celebrate Mother’s Day this year. Roses N Things can host other events and special occasions such as baby showers, bridal showers, weddings, engagements or you can just come down any time and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and menu. If travelling though Barcaldine, one of the things to do is to stop in and enjoy a Devonshire Tea/Coffee or make the most of the experience and stay at Roses N Things Caravan Park Barcaldine. Top ten things to do in Barcaldine

Explore the best Barcaldine has to offer!

 

1. Visit the tree of knowledge

This iconic ghost gum grew in front of the Barcaldine Railway station until it was poisoned, after which it was immortalised in a magnificent art installation. Visit this monument and learn about why this tree is so important to the history of the labour party and trade unions.

2. Workers Heritage Centre

The Workers Heritage Centre showcases Australia’s rich working history over 2 hectares of gardens and 14 buildings. The grounds were the former site of Barcaldine State School but now feature 22 displays telling the story of vitally important parts of our nation’s working life. the interesting history of the shearer’s strike and the relevance of the ‘Tree of Knowledge’ is all showcased within the museum. A great day out in Barcaldine.

3. The Fraser Way Walking Track

This walking track spans two kilometres around the edge of lagoon creek. It is a popular stop for bird watchers and nature lovers alike, and allows leashed dogs to be walked. Exercise yourself and your pooch whilst taking in the sights on this beautiful walk.

4. Barcaldine Swimming Pool

The Barcaldine Swimming Pool is located on the corner of Pine and Wilga Street. It is 50m with an individual shaded children's wading pool. Other facilities include change rooms, showers, toilets, BBQ area and a shaded seating area.

5. The Radio Picture Theatre

Located in Beech street, the theatre first opened in 1926 with silent movies, followed by the introduction of sound movies in 1931. The theatre still provides a the old style canvas seats for comfort when movies are screened. Open only Friday and Sunday nights and showing the latest flicks, this icon of Barcaldine is a gorgeous art deco style cinema. Step back in time whilst watching the latest blockbuster! Movie selections can be found advertised at the theatre and on the FB page - Barcaldine Picture Theatre. Remember to thank the workers as they are all volunteers!

6. The Globe

The recently completed 'The Globe' is a multifunctional building designed specifically for arts and tourism. The restored hotel contains a modern Visitor Information Centre, 'History on Oak' showcasing the history of The Globe and the Barcaldine township, and the 'Galilee Gallery' which hosts exhibitions, displays, art functions and events.

7. Barcaldine Tag along Tours

Visit a working property that has been family owned for over 100 years. Experience a working sheep and cattle farm and of course the wildlife. Meet real country historians with years of knowledge and experience. A wonderful day spent getting to know the locals. Smoko included in the tour. Ring 46511652 or find them on FB.

8. Masonic Lodge

This national heritage listed building is a unique site in Barcaldine. Built in 1901, the iron and timber building has a painted facade on the front and back which has been designed to make the building look as though it is made from brick. It is still used as a Masonic Temple and meetings are held once a month. Tours of the Lodge by a local mason can be arranged by contacting the Visitor Information Centre.

9. Barcaldine Rec Park

Visit the newest edition to the township of Barcaldine located approximately 1km from the town centre. Enjoy this manmade lake which is 1100km long and 250m wide. A variety of water sports are allowed along with swimming and you can also enjoy bird and people watching. You will find the entrance to the Rec Park along the highway to Longreach.

10. Lara Station

Lara Station is 28km South of Barcaldine and 78km North of Blackall on the Landsborough Highway. Enjoy the lovely drive, then look for the yellow and black Lara sign. Follow the signs for 13km along a graded dirt road to the booking office. You could enjoy a campfire and star gazing at night, whilst enjoying the sounds of the nightlife, or come out early in the morning to experience the majesty of the sunrise over the wetlands.

1. Jericho day trip

Enjoy a day trip to the local town of Jericho and experience their drive in theatre, beautiful redbank park and local attractions such as the crystal trumpeteers. Step back in time to enjoy a movie from the front seat of your car as a perfect end to a fun day out.

2. Dunraven tag-along tours

Experience an informative tour of this family owned sheep and cattle property, with an included morning tea and interactive baby animal section! This is a great experience for families and travellers alike, bookings essential.

3. Visit longreach

Located an hour and ten minutes out of Barcaldine, Longreach makes a great day-trip location. Boasting historic cemetery tours, powerhouse museum and being the founding town of qantas airlines, Longreach will entertain for hours.

4. Aramac

Aramac is one of the oldest towns in the central west, and is home to attractions like Lake Dunn, the White Bull and the Tramway museum. Originally known as Marathon, the town was later renamed after Robert Ramsay Mackenzie, the first explorer to the area who carved his name (R R Mac) on a tree.

5. Lake Dunn

Lake Dunn is a freshwater lake in located near Aramac. Also known as Pajingo Bola, meaning "Big Fella Waterhole", the lake is home to a large waterfowl population. The shores boast native trees, as well as new picnic areas to enjoy lunch.

6. Muttaburra

Muttaburra is the closest town to the geographical Centre of Queensland and is home to the Muttaburrasaurus Langdoni, the first most complete dinosaur discovered in 1963. The fossils were found by a local grazier Doug Langdon while out mustering, and these are now housed in the Queensland Museum.
