Easy day trips from Barcaldine

 

1. Shandonvale Station

Soak up a sunset at the boat-shed, pop a champagne and relax in the mineral rich waters of the treetop artesian bath, explore the bush, fly in a helicopter, have a shot at the gun range or herd sheep in a buggy, or just build a campfire and enjoy a cold beer - there's plenty to do at Shandonvale. This station is located 40 minutes out of Barcaldine, but will keep you entertained for hours!

2. Jericho day trip

Enjoy a day trip to the local town of Jericho and experience their drive in theatre, beautiful redbank park and local attractions such as the crystal trumpeteers. Step back in time to enjoy a movie from the front seat of your car as a perfect end to a fun day out.

3. Dunraven tag-along tours

4. Lake Maraboon/Gindie Bay

Located 3.5 hours away down the A4 highway toward the coast, Gindie is located on the edge of the beautiful Maraboon Make. With fishing, kayaking and other water sports, this picturesque area makes a memorable day trip.

5. Visit longreach

Located an hour and ten minutes out of Barcaldine, Longreach makes a great day-trip location. Boasting historic cemetery tours, powerhouse museum and being the founding town of qantas airlines, Longreach will entertain for hours.

6. Zamia State Forest

Located 2.5 hours away on the Capricorn Highway A4, the Zamia State Forest boasts scenic walks and plentiful biodiversity. Enjoy different walks based on your skills level, and pack a picnic lunch you can eat surrounded by nature!

7. Aramac

Aramac is one of the oldest towns in the central west, and is home to attractions like Lake Dunn, the White Bull and the Tramway museum. Originally known as Marathon, the town was later renamed after Robert Ramsay Mackenzie, the first explorer to the area who carved his name (R R Mac) on a tree.

8. Lake Dunn

Lake Dunn is a freshwater lake in located near Aramac. Also known as Pajingo Bola, meaning "Big Fella Waterhole", the lake is home to a large waterfowl population. The shores boast native trees, as well as new picnic areas to enjoy lunch.
